PERFORMANCE ATTIRE The attire for all musical performances is semi-formal, unless otherwise notified. Females:
Dresses/skirts at least 5 inches below the knee. PRACTICE REQUIREMENTS It is the parent's responsibility to see that your child practices. There is a direct relationship between regular practice and student success. Parents should establish a regular practice time for your child that is free from distraction, and give positive reinforcement for your child's practice. When possible, parents should help your child practice, especially at the beginning levels. If it is not possible to help directly, just being in the room while the child practices is supportive and encouraging. First-year students should practice no less than 30 minutes per day. Second- and third-year students should practice no less than 45 minutes per day. Students in their fourth year and above should practice no less than 60 minutes per day. Practicing should occur at least six days per week. If this practice requirement is not followed, it is impossible to guarantee that the student will have a successful or positive learning experience. All students, children and adults, are required to submit a Practice Record to your instructor at the beginning of each lesson. PIANO AND METRONOME REQUIREMENT An acoustic or digital piano at home is required for commitment to the study of piano music. Rental arrangements with option to purchase are available from your local piano retailers. Also, each student is expected to have a working metronome and to use it as the teacher requests.
